A home for product updates

This is the changelog. When something in Center changes in a way you would notice, it will show up here: a short narrative for the larger pieces, then a ledger of improvements and fixes.

Entries are dated. Each one has a permalink you can copy. There is an RSS feed if you would rather not check the page.

The product is still the list of people you mean to keep. This page is just the record of how that list gets better.

The sheet stays in step

Center is a spreadsheet of contacts. The daily loop is cells, keyboard, and the row you already have open — so the grid has to feel like a sheet you live in, not a table that happens to scroll.

This round is about that loop staying honest while you move. The header no longer belongs to the left edge of the viewport: it belongs to the columns. The active cell is a selection, not a highlight that leaks.

Nothing about who is on the list changed. The list just became a better place to look.

The header now travels with horizontal scrolling, so column names stay on the fields you are looking at.

The active cell uses a 2px mark border and paper fill, closer to how a spreadsheet treats the selection.

Double-click edits a cell. Shift and meta extend the selection the way they do in a sheet.

The active cell now clips its text like every other cell, instead of letting long values spill into the next column.

A drag that ends where it began, and drops nowhere, is treated as the click it was meant to be — lists navigate, field rows toggle.

People you know

Contacts are a decision. Connecting Gmail, Messages, or an address book should not quietly invent rows on the list you keep.

People you know is the holding place. Everyone those sources can name shows up there, merged, while the grid stays the list you actually filed. Drag a vCard in: they land with the rest of the people you have not decided on yet.

Companies get the same treatment. If a domain keeps showing up around people you talk to, it appears in Companies you know — still latent, still yours to file.

The doctrine does not change. Nothing auto-creates a contact from a CC, an iMessage, or a LinkedIn URL. The import can be loud. The list stays quiet until you say so.

People you know
One sheet of everyone found in mail, messages, and the address book, with no cap on the merged list.
People you know
Lives at /contacts/suggested. A banner reports how many new people showed up while imports and syncs run.
Companies you know
Organisations behind the people you talk to, the same latent pattern as people.
Import
vCard drops land in People you know, not the grid. Contacts stay a decision.

Fixes

Gmail
Messages without a To header are treated as having no recipients, not as a failed sync.
